Competencies Shown:

Communication

The artifact represents hours of meetings, research, and writing. I communicated with SMEs and learning designers on the material to be covered in the lesson. I also wrote the text for the lesson in an easy to understand fashion. Supporting visuals and interactions communicate main points and primary learning objectives.

Analysis

I spent a good deal of time researching company services and analyzing what sales employees should know about those services. That research came through talks with SMEs as well as my own research from company documents.

Design

The lesson was designed to be incorporated into a larger sequence of onboarding training as well as function as a stand alone lesson. Principles of multimedia learning, dual processing theory, and systematic instruction are all evident here. Visuals and media are clean and support the primary learning objectives.

Technology and Media

The platform used for this lesson is Articulate Rise, a common training platform for corporate applications. Choices on interactions such as learning sequences and video were made to make the highest impact and learning transfer. Supporting documents are provided to assist learners in asking appropriate questions to customers.

Evaluation

Evaluation of this lesson was conducted throughout development. Input from SMEs and my colleagues in learning design assisted me when creating the lesson. About six months after use, minor tweaks were made to the lesson to accommodate recent changes in the company's services.

Management

I managed several stakeholders throughout the development of this lesson. SMEs, talent development leaders, and my training colleagues all provided input. I managed timelines, review cycles, and implementation of the lesson into the learning management system to meet deadlines.

Personal and Interpersonal

This project would not have come together without the help of the subject matter experts and training colleagues. The relationships I had with those people were crucial to making this lesson and others in the series come to fruition.
